Two wins in one night for Identity

Thursday 11 May

Superb evening for the team as Dan and Theo take fantastic victories.

With just five points needed to gain his 2nd category licence, Dan Gibson was keen to round off his time as a 3rd cat in style and he did just that. After getting in the early break of four, Dan worked solidly throughout the race to help maintain the gap. Then coming into the crucial final bend, Dan was in second wheel and he unleashed a powerful sprint to pass the Team Chronomaster rider and cross the line first. Dan is now looking forward to mixing it up in the higher category races.

With morale high, and resplendent in the green Junior League leader’s jersey, Theo Hartley set off in pursuit of more success in the Elite/1/2/3 race. Once again getting in the early break, Theo showed that he was feeling strong. Unfortunately the break was reeled in by the bunch and it was then a VCUK VeloChampion rider who was out front for most of the race. Going into the final few laps, the pace increased and the leading rider was absorbed back into the bunch. The bunch sprint loomed as Theo prepared himself near the front of the bunch. Going into the final corner, Theo was in first place and, with an extremely strong sprint that no one could match, he was first across the line to complete a dream night for Identity.

Over in Yorkshire, Ash Coning also had a good result at the North Yorkshire Road Race League. The 66km race on the rolling circuit near Ripon saw Ash ride strongly to finish 9th out of 62 and second Junior.

A superb set of results for the team as we look ahead towards the second part of the season.
